Introduction to the Automation Station Challenge
Welcome to our Automation Station Challenge! In this program, students learn how to create digital automations that save time and money for organizations. This challenge is one of our favorite offerings at Starter School because it shows students how computers can handle tasks for them. By understanding automation, students can help businesses run more smoothly and efficiently.

Why Automation Matters
In today’s world, businesses need to work quickly and efficiently. Automation helps by allowing computers to do repetitive tasks, so people can focus on more important work. For example, instead of manually sending emails or organizing data, automation can handle these tasks automatically. This saves time, reduces costs, and helps organizations operate better.
Learning Zapier: The Industry-Standard Tool
At the heart of our Automation Station Challenge is Zapier, a powerful tool used by over 100,000 businesses worldwide. Zapier connects different apps, allowing them to work together seamlessly. Students will learn how to use Zapier to link apps like Google Forms, Google Sheets, Slack, Loom, Discord, and Trello. With Zapier, students can create workflows that make everyday tasks easier and faster.
The Automation Process: From Idea to Implementation
Our program guides students through the entire automation process in simple steps:

1. Understanding the Task: Identifying which tasks can be automated to save time and money.
2. Choosing the Right Apps: Selecting the apps that will work together to complete the task.
3. Creating the Automation: Using Zapier to set up the workflow that connects the apps.
4. Testing and Improving: Making sure the automation works correctly and making any necessary adjustments.

This step-by-step approach ensures that students can create effective automations from start to finish.
